Our old site – too beige!

Greeting visitors, thanks for stopping by. I’m happy to announce the cobbler has a shiny new pair of shoes! It’s been quite awhile in the making, it was always on the bottom of the to-do list, and though it’s not perfect, our new website is now open to public view. The old site was serviceable, but needed a facelift and content shift. It wasn’t mobile responsive (gasp!). We’ve fixed that, removed much of the clutter and now focus the message on what we do best, build beautiful, smart, client websites sites using WordPress.

On blogging

I’m not making any promises for frequent posts on this blog. I don’t have a good track record. But I aim to occasionally post new work, and helpful or inspirational content. If you have topics you think I can address please comment or contact me.  We send out occasional email newseletters to share updates and inspirations, please subscribe!

Missing hipster ipsum

When this site was in development it included a lot of placeholder text. Copy blocks to indicate where content would go. But it wasn’t the old standby “Lorem ipsum”, we used only the finest artisanal filler text, “Hipster Ipsum”. Here’s a sample:

Scenester lo-fi irony biodiesel small batch master cleanse crucifix. Cronut fap Vice pug seitan Truffaut Austin gastropub leggings kale chips. Artisan Pinterest sriracha pork belly meh. Organic Wes Anderson irony small batch Williamsburg. Readymade Tonx quinoa, cold-pressed tote bag fanny pack seitan you probably haven’t heard of them Blue Bottle 3 wolf moon kale chips Neutra semiotics sriracha. Kale chips dreamcatcher sartorial Austin. Scenester 90’s Banksy, hashtag pug Pinterest leggings mumblecore sriracha fingerstache.

We couldn’t stop laughing. More can be found here.

Designers have long used “greeked text” to indicate copy placement and style in their layouts. In the mid-eighties Aldus Corp. (makers of desktop publishing software, PageMaker) created “Lorem ipsum”, and the text file has been used by graphic designers ever since. It starts…

The classic lorem ipsum serves it’s purpose well, it’s neutral and creates minimal distraction (unlike the hilarious hipster version) and since a spell checker generally catches lorem ipsum there’s less chance of it ending up in your final product (now that’s embarrassing). But if you’re bored with the same old, same old now there are many alternatives. Meet the many other ipsums here. Enjoy!
