What is the website creation process? how do you work?
Here’s an overview: 5 steps to your new website
How do I get started?
Fill out our inquiry form. We’ll get in contact and have a brief phone call to find out if we’re a good fit. Then we’ll ask you to really dig deep and think about why you need a new website, you’ll complete our Website Worksheet. Even if we don’t work together, it’s a helpful tool to focus thoughts about your website.
I don’t have a website yet, what do I need to get started?
A clear purpose. We’ll ask you why you want/need a new website. What do you hope it will do for your business or organization? We’ll help guide you through this process and make suggestions regarding content and messaging. Oh yeah, and you’ll need a domain name.
How do I get a domain name?
Go to a domain registrar to purchase a domain name. It’s very important YOU control your domain name. You must pay for it yearly and make sure it doesn’t expire. (If it does your website will disappear!) There are many domain registrars. I use and like name.com, but their are many others.
What about web hosting?
Generally we can work with your existing provider, if you are happy with them. If you don’t have a web host, we’ll recommend a web host that fits the needs of your site.
Will my new website look good on a phone?
Definitely. Your website will be “mobile responsive”, meaning it will adapt to each device’s screen size. (Mobile, tablet and desktop.)
Can I or my staff make changes to the website?
Yes. We train you to make copy edits and add new posts and pictures via an internet browser. We’ll discuss your editing needs in the Discovery step and make sure the site works for you. In fact usually you will start editing the website yourself in the Build step, before we Launch.
Can I have a blog?
Certainly, we use WordPress and it’s the most awesome blogging tool.
Should I have a blog?
Yes, for most clients we recommend they have a blog or “news” section. It helps keep the web site fresh, engages your audience. Posting quality, helpful content helps position you or your company as a trusted expert in your field.
Who owns my site after it’s launched?
You do!
Will you help me after my site is launched?
We’d love to. New websites include three months of essential site care after launch. We offer Website Care Plans to keep your site in tip-top working order and for Care Plan subscribers we are available to do updates, create new content or provide additional training to help you get the most from your website.
Do you do ecommerce?
Not at this time. We can refer you to an associate, or occasionally we partner with specialists to implement e-commerce.
Can you design my logo?
Yes, especially if it’s part of a website project.
